Avon is a publisher of mostly romance novels. It also releases fiction occasionally. It is an imprint of HarperCollins, which also owns Harlequin. Up until the mid-90s, Avon was owned by the Hearst Corporation, which is now part of Newscorp.

The acquisition by Newscorp of Hearst's publishing division back in 1999 resulted in the decision to concentrate on romance only and other genres being dropped. In this book, Darrow creates an interesting background for Avon and emulates the bantering style of dialogue that Blake's 7 was known for quite well, but unless you are a fan of the show it's probably not for you. The story is centered around the relationship between Avon, Vila and their mutual respect and dislike for the other's ruthlessness and cowardice.

Avon's soft side is revealed when he makes the tough decisions necessary to protect his team. The characters have plenty of depth, and each one has a unique persona that makes them relatable. This is a story that will leave you wanting more. The writing is flawless and there is an authentic sense of the world in which it is set. It's a masterpiece written by an author at the height of her ability.

She gives the once-famous California Perfume Company credit for breaking with the prescribed economic roles imposed on women in 19th and 20th century America however, she exposes the ways in which its rhetoric smothered what was really a rather radical economic proposition by wrapping it in ideals of respectability and domesticity.

Alongside a wide collection of women's fiction Avon also has a distinct line of crime and thrillers and a growing list of children's literature. It is the publisher for the best-selling CL Taylor and avon book march 2023 Katerina Diamond, as well as many other authors.

Avon's commitment to bringing the best of commercial fiction to the widest possible audience continues to be the case today.
